Eerste echte dag in B A
27 november 2019 - Buenos Aires, Argentinië
26 november
Yesterday was our first full day in B A and the group arrived around 9 o’clock. They were lucky and could go to their rooms right away. We greeted them and continued our breakfast. At 10 o'clock Marcel Breedveld, our tour leader, had arranged for a possibility to change to pesos. Money is a hot item in this unstable country at the moment.
At 12 o'clock we had a bus tour around the most important monuments in the city. The weather was not too good to day, rainy but around 22 degrees. Our first stop was Recoleta, an elegant neighbourhood with beautiful houses, the chic Av Alvear and in the middle the Cementario de la Recoleta. The place for the final rest for the rich and famous. It’s streets are lined with mausoleums. This is also the burial place of Evita Perron. From this upscale area, where the present Dutch queen Maxima was born, we went on to the other side of town, to La Boca. This is a poor neighbourhood where the dock workers were living. The football is important ( Maradona) and the street art is to be seen almost everywhere. Very colourful. Here we had some time to go around on our own. We met up with Ingrid and her husband Wouter to eat our first empanada. A pastry witch you can buy with different fillings. Very tasty. From here to San Telmo. This is a charming Italian neighbourhood with a lot of antique shops. After this again to Plaza the Mayo, where we had been yesterday and then back to the hotel. Time for our fellow travellers who came from A'dam this morning to take a nap.
In the evening we met again for a welcome dinner and to get better known with each other. It seems to be a real nice bunch of people. 2 of the other ladies are also from Cabine Services. Helen and Louise have both been senior pursers but I have never flown with any of them.
Tomorrow more about what we did to day.
We are looking forward to following your adventurous trip every day!
