10/10 From Windhoek to Kalahari

After a good night’s sleep in our beautiful room, we had breakfast inside with a beautiful view of Windhoek. We left at 9 o’clock for our next destination, Kalahari. The journey is around 280 km. It took us about 5 hours including a few stops. We drove through a bare and dry landscape. En route we saw our first animals, baboons, oryxes and an ostrich. 
After arrival we had a swim in the pool and thereafter prepared for our four-wheel drive game tour in the Kalahari. About 9 people in 2 cars. We left at 4:30 pm.  During the ride we saw some oryxes, antelopes, wildebeests or gnus, zebras and an owl. Also  some very special birds’ nests. The owl was functioning as a watchbird. But all in a sudden we had to return to the lodge,  because the weather turned bad, with a thunderstorm and heavy rainfall. We all were soaking wet by the time we came back to the lodge.  After a change we had a buffet dinner, with very good bbq springbuck meat. We went to bed early because the next day we should leave at 8 o’clock.
