6/11From San José to NP Tortuguera.

We left the hotel at 6.15 for NP Tortuguero. It looked like it was going to be a fine day again. We were picked up by a guide and bus from Hotel Perchira. It was an interesting trip over a mountain range, higher than 2000m. On the way to the NP we were served breakfast. It was about a 3 hours drive from San Jose to Caño Blanco,  where we had our late breakfast,  it took 1.1/2 hour by boat to the Pachira Hotel.  On our way to the boat we passed by banana plantations from Chiquita and pine plantations from Del Monte.  Now we’re on the Caribbean side of the country. With quite different weather. Humid and  high temperatures. We were welcomed with a nice cocktail and lunch and then we are ready for a visit to the other side of the river, the small village Tortuguera with about 750 inhabitants and the famous beach were turtles  lay there eggs from April til October. Back at the lodge some of us met for a drink in the bar and it feels good with the whole group. Later in the evening it started to rain and we heard some thunder. The next day we shall start with a boat trip.
