One more day in the Kaeo area.

The first day without any plans! We decided not to drive to Cape Reigna, just to say that we have been to the most northern point of New Zealand. It is about 320 km the same way up and down. Stefano had some good suggestions for us in the area. First we took the Million Dollar View Drive which starts not far from the farm. It was about a 40 km round trip along the coast partly along Whangaroa Bay. At the cape we made the beautiful Mahinepua walk from about 2 hours up and down. We past several lonely beaches and had fabulous views to all sides. We met only a few other couples. People are very friendly and relaxed over here. From 1 person we got even his card and were invited for a coffee at his home somerwere between Auckland and Wellington! On one of the beaches we had our sandwiches wich we make every morning to take along. We visited Whangaroa harbour, a few boats, a cafe and the general store Is all there is. We drove on to the next place  where we stopped in Mangonui at Doubtless Bay, which had a little more to offer. Here we could change some money. We would like to show you some of the pictures but we have some problems here. At the peak of the mountain, which is called Rangikapiti Pa, formerly a Maori fortress, you have a magnificent view to all sides. The Southern Pacific Ocean lies before you, the coast on two sides and the rolling green hills behind you. Here we met a Young American  woman who was travelling  on her own and doing yoga. She also enjoyed the quietness. We had Our last night in Kahoe farms and the next morning we drove over to the other side of the island and the coast of the Tasman Sea, the Kauri woods and trails! Everyday is a new adventure.
