Wellington

24 november 2017 - Wellington, Nieuw-Zeeland

Yesterday the 23th of November we left the Oak House with beautiful weather. We decided not to drive to Welllington right away but use the opportunity to visit Cape Palliser first. This area reminded us a lot of the Cape Town area in South Afrika. Vineyards and the type of mountains around. All in a sudden you are at the Ocean and on the other side of Cook Street we saw the shadow of the South Island and two white snowy mountain tops sticking up. A fantastic view. Along the coast we came upon a group of seals who were resting and sunbathing. So lucky we were to have seen this! The same road back and then from Featherson over a new mountain ridge to Wellington. We parked the car already at the  Interislander Ferry terminal and took a taxi into town to the hotel. We don't need the car here and it gave us some more time. After checking in we took the cable car to the Botanic Garden with a beautiful view on the bay and the incoming plains. Must be a spectacular landing here. We enjoyed a glass of white wine together with all the office workers on one of the terraces along the bay.

Today we continue to the South Island. The Ferry departs at 2.45 PM so we have time to visit the Te Papa museum. Recommended by everyone.

Waw jullie rijden in een sneltrein vaart naar het Zuidereiland. Zo leuk om jullie te volgen en overal waar wij ook heen willen maken ik een notitie van. Ben benieuwd hoe jullie het Zuidereiland beleven.
