To Rotorua and surroundings
18 november 2017 - Rotorua, Nieuw-Zeeland
We left Hahei with wonderful weather. We drove past Tauranga what seems to be a booming city. After all the quietness it is nearly a chock to come to highways, a big harbour and lots of industry. Just before the lake Rotoroa we stopped at yet another waterfall. Called Okere. Here we had again a possibility to make a walk but we decided to continue. I, Gerda, had had some pains on the back and under the diaphragm on the right side of the body. It started already on the plane to Auckland. I felt more and more uncertain and uncomfortable about it. We dicided to consult a medical doctor. She found out that it was shingles. gordelroos (nl) or helvetesild (no). Nothing to worry about but very inconvenient. I have to use medicines for 3 weeks. But I'm a lot more relaxed. We had a nice dinner in town. Even on a terrace. 22 degrees! Today we went on an Eco-tour to the Whirinaki Rainforest. They picked us op at 8.40 and one other young Swiss couple joined us. We had an interesting day in the nature but the weather had changed and it was rather cold and a bit rainy. We had a Mauri guide who could explain a lot about the forest and this volcanic area on this 4 hour walk in the forest. To morrow we proceed to the Tongariro National Park and drive via Taupo.
Wat maken jullie een fantastische reis. We genieten van jullie verslagen. Hopelijk helpt de medicatie Gerda snel weer van het ongemak af. Sterkte hoor!
